Transition to Mixed Billing

Dear Valued Patients,

As of January 1, 2025, Quakers Hill Family Practice will transition to become a MIXED BILLING PRACTICE.

Bulk-billed services remain to be available to eligible patient groups and from certain GPs.

What this means for you

Mixed billing means that patients will be charged a an out-of-pocket fee for consultations and services received at Quakers Hill Family Practice, with Medicare rebates available for eligible services.

When will bulk-billing still apply?

To ensure that vulnerable patients continue to receive essential healthcare, bulk billing will remain available for:

  • Children under 16 years old.
  • DVA Gold Card holders
  • Pension card holders
  • Chronic Disease Care Plans
  • Health Assessments
  • COVID vaccinations

Which GPs offer bulk-billing

We are pleased to inform our patients that GP registrars will continue to offer bulk billing services at our practice. GP registrars are qualified doctors undergoing advanced training in general practice and are an integral part of our team.

Please note, however, that GP registrars are here on a temporary basis as part of their training program. While they provide exceptional care during their time with us, their placements are time-limited.

How much will be charged?

Consultation TypeDescriptionMedicare RebateTotal FeeGap Fee
Level AShort consultation (less than 5 minutes)$19.60$44.60$25.00
Level BShort consultation (5-20 minutes)$42.85$67.85$25.00
Level CLong consultation (20–40 minutes)$82.90$107.90$25.00
Level DProlonged consultation (over 40 minutes)$122.15$147.15$25.00

How are the applicable fees paid?

Patients not eligible for bulk billing exemptions will be required to store a card upon booking. The patient will receive a request for card details, and will need to provide a payment method and their card details will be stored securely via Hotdoc. No payment will be taken until after the completion of the consultation/ appointment.

If the payment is processed via Hotdoc, the patient will then receive an email once the funds have been collected by the clinic, informing them the payment has been complete.

Fees can also be paid by credit card or EFTPOS in the practice after the consultation. After payment, patients eligible for a Medicare rebate can have it processed directly at the practice, where the rebate amount is credited back to their bank account, often on the same day. Please note that in order for us to process your refunds on the spot, you will need to bring your ACTUAL DEBIT CARD. We are unable to process direct refunds with CREDIT CARDS or with Apple Pay/Samsung Pay.

Warm regards,
The Team at Quakers Hill Family Practice
